Professor Robert Sapolsky – Practical Neuroscience CorePsych, CoreBrain, CoreNutriets

Depression is not generalized pessimism, but pessimism specific to the effects of one's own skilled action.
Robert M. Sapolsky, Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers

Take the time to listen to this absolutely important video below by Sapolsky. He's evolving neuroscientific understanding for Core mind-science applications  – an interesting thought leader for the next level of thinking about thinking. [Hidden in his quote above: metacognition.]

Sapolsky is a neuroendocrinologist currently a Professor of Biological Sciences, and Professor of Neurology and Neurological Sciences and, by courtesy, Neurosurgery, at Stanford University. In addition he's a Research Associate at the National Museums of Kenya.1

On Sapolsky and neuroscience – think: coalescent and comprehensive – dogma interfaces with demonstrable neurophysiologic function.

Sapolsky Embodies Mind Evolution Progress

If you appreciate my consistent CorePsych perspective on the serious need for dramatic improvements in mind care, you will love this video with Sapolsky. Be forewarned: this video may record his freshman class at Stanford, readers – but this is the future of psychiatry and mind care for the next decades. We're going deep with this video. The profession, however reluctantly, must go deeper to keep up with emerging mind-science.

Core changes will customize individual patient care. Executive Function emerges as an essential measure in the Context of Changing Reality. The future is now.

Sapolsky Honored At CorePsych

I've also honored Sapolsky on my distinguished panel of Core Critical Thinkers on this page: http://corepsych.com/critical Linger there for more interesting colleagues that address important mind-science perspectives.

Don't Forget Chaos by James Gleick

One other important contributor I'll bring to your attention soon at CorePsych: James Gleick who wrote Chaos: Making a New Science – a remarkable book with mathematical details that will build your understanding of these next steps – highly recommended. Cookie cutter solutions are out, neuroscience details make more sense now than ever before – because new measurements provide improved target recognition. Gleick comments on this moment:

It is not the amount of knowledge that makes a brain. It is not even the distribution of knowledge. It is the interconnectedness.
― James Gleick, The Information: A History, a Theory, a Flood

Every new medium transforms the nature of human thought. In the long run, history is the story of information becoming aware of itself.
― James Gleick, The Information: A History, a Theory, a Flood

In that last observation: more metacognition.
