Walsh Resource Page:

Posts, PDF Downloads, Video Explanations, Methylation, Epigenetic Details, and Walsh Protocols

Bill Walsh brings interesting fresh and useful information to evolving mind science. This page provides easy access for your own personal training – to sort out your next steps in mind science – for either professional or personal evolution. Details matter.

First: Read His Book!

You will find Walsh resources documented in detail in his recently updated new book: Nutrient Power: Heal Your Biochemistry and Heal Your Brain. [Note: This specific link works for Amazon anywhere in the world with your own currency.] – An imperative read for anyone interested in biomedical, evidenced based, mind assessments and comprehensive laboratory testing. Just imagine: Walsh has reviewed over 3 million test results – his research numbers are at once staggering and yet easily applicable once mastered.

Then take a moment to listen to these important CoreBrain Journal podcast Episodes wherein I interview Dr. Walsh on missed diagnosis and treatment failure in engaging detail:

Walsh Resources: Professional Training Opportunities

The Walsh Institute Teaches Internationally. For his bio and professional educational opportunities review this Walsh Institute Page for more Walsh Resources. I just returned from 5 days in Chicago with Bill Walsh and his Mensah Medical Training Team who practice there in the Chicago area. The training was simply outstanding: Bill Walsh, Albert Mensah, Judith Bowman, and Elizabeth Mumper provided outstanding details with more than 20 patient reviews. Stay tuned at the Institute for the upcoming Autism Training next year. – Loved the remarkable collection of fellow trainees as well.

Walsh Included: Critical Thinking Team

Critical Thinking Experts Report: Our Current Mind Assessments Are: Excellent, but not enough. Details on this CorePsych Critical Thinking Reviewfor Walsh resources. Galileo, Korzybski, de Bono, Sapolsky, and Insel make a difference through the use of advanced technology to measure and understand the mind.

From Galileo to Bill Walsh these Critical Thinkers use new tools and direct evidence to improve perceptions, correct outdated dogmatic beliefs that limit progress and contribute directly to patient care on the street level: CorePsych Critical Thinkers – Videos and References from each. Evidence matters.

References on Presynaptic Transporter Relevance For Mind Science

DAT Transporters

Dopamine Transport – DAT Reviewed at Wikipedia – See the symporter relevance for norepinephrine there as well – genetics matter:

DAT is implicated in a number of dopamine-related disorders, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, clinical depression, and alcoholism. The gene that encodes the DAT protein is located on human chromosome 5, consists of 15 coding exons, and is roughly 64 kbp long. Evidence for the associations between DAT and dopamine related disorders has come from a type of genetic polymorphism, known as a VNTR, in the DAT gene (DAT1), which influences the amount of protein expressed.2

SERT Transporters

Serotonin Transport – SERT Reviewed at Wikipedia – Genetics and comorbidity abound.

This transport of serotonin by the SERT protein terminates the action of serotonin and recycles it in a sodium-dependent manner. This protein is the target of many antidepressant medications, including those of the SSRI class. It is a member of the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter family. A repeat length polymorphism in the promoter of this gene has been shown to affect the rate of serotonin uptake and may play a role in sudden infant death syndrome, aggressive behavior in Alzheimer disease patients, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression-susceptibility in people experiencing emotional trauma.3

Walsh: On Why MTHFR Genetics Are Limited As Stand Alone Results

Since there are SNPs that tend to reduce methylation and others that tend to increase methylation, a patient’s overall methyl status depends on the overall combined impact of these SNPs. The popular genetic tests for MTHFR, MS, and other SNPs provide interesting information, but are qualitative in nature and limited in their ability to accurately determine overall methyl status. SNPs that reduce SAMe production are often counterbalanced by SNPs that tend toward overmethylation. Diagnosis of overall methyl status is very important in clinical treatment of mental disorders. Two lab assays that directly measure the net effect of the competing SNPs are SAMe/ SAH ratio and whole-blood histamine.4

Neurotransmitter Pathways

See this link for a PDF download on the multiple cofactors and enzymes that can improve neurotransmitter function. This diagram will help you understand how supplements and specific amino acids can improve treatment outcomes after testing indicates challenges. With neurotransmitter excess or deficiency, and/or without the balanced dynamic reuptake of neurotransmitters psychiatric medications prove ineffective. Cost effective measurements of these variables often prevent treatment failure.
